Whether you've already left a cult or high-control group, or are thinking about it . . .
Chances are you have a lot of questions. Questions like:
"Who am I without this group?"
"Will I lose my community and family if I leave?"
"How will I ever figure out who I am as a person versus who I was in this group?"
"Should I tell others that I was part of this (cult, group, situation) or will they think less of me?"
And more.
Leaving a high-control group is challenging, but it can be done. Counseling offers you a safe place to process emotions, explore who you are authentically, eliminate old, unhelpful (and often coersive) patterns of thinking and more.
Joy offers both clincial counseling and psychoeducation/resources to individuals who want to leave a cultic or high-control setting, who've already left, or who have a loved one who is part of this type of group.
Note: Joy is able to work only with residents of Vermont at this time, but can recommend other practitioners for those who live in another state or country.
